General Department of Taxation Reduces Registration Fee for Domestically Produced Cars by 50%

Hanoi, August 30, 2024, the General Department of Taxation has issued Official Dispatch No. 06/CD-TCT, adjusting the registration fee for domestically produced cars, trailers, semi-trailers, and similar vehicles to be reduced by 50%. This measure aims to stimulate consumption and support domestic businesses.
 

Hanoi, August 30, 2024, the General Department of Taxation has issued Official Dispatch No. 06/CD-TCT, adjusting the registration fee for domestically produced cars, trailers, semi-trailers, and similar vehicles to be reduced by 50%. Accordingly, from September 1, 2024 to November 30, 2024, the registration fee will be reduced to 50% of the previous rate.

Objectives of the new policy

The reduction in registration fees aims to achieve the following objectives:

  • Stimulate consumption: By reducing the cost of purchasing cars, it encourages people to buy new vehicles, thereby contributing to the growth of the domestic automotive industry.
  • Support businesses: Reducing the cost burden for automobile manufacturing and assembly businesses, creating favorable conditions for production and business.
  • Overcome difficulties: Contributing to overcoming difficulties in the automotive market in the current economic context.

Policy implementation

Tax departments nationwide are required to proactively publicize the new policy to taxpayers. At the same time, tax sub-departments must promptly implement the application of the new registration fee rate in accordance with the law.

  • Application period: The 50% reduction in registration fees applies for a period of 3 months, from September 1, 2024, to November 30, 2024.
