General Department of Taxation: United in Overcoming Challenges, Successfully Completing 2024 Tasks

On the afternoon of October 21st, the Party Committee of the General Department of Taxation held a meeting to summarize the Party’s work in the third quarter and to deploy key tasks for the fourth quarter of 2024. At the meeting, Comrade Mai Xuan Thanh, Secretary of the Party Committee and General Director of the General Department of Taxation, emphasized the achievements made in the third quarter and outlined important orientations for the end of the year.
 

Outstanding achievements in the third quarter

In the third quarter of 2024, the tax sector faced many difficulties such as climate change, natural disasters, and negative impacts from the global economic situation. However, with continuous efforts, the tax sector has achieved positive results. Specifically:

  • Exceeded the target for state budget revenue: Thanks to the efforts of the entire sector, state budget revenue in the third quarter reached 311,850 billion VND, exceeding the set plan.
  • Administrative procedure reform: Continuing to simplify procedures, creating favorable conditions for businesses.
  • Improving service quality: Providing modern electronic tax services to meet the needs of businesses.
  • Building a cadre force: Enhancing the professional capacity and ethics of cadres and civil servants.

Orientation of tasks in the fourth quarter

To successfully complete the 2024 tasks, the Party Committee of the General Department of Taxation has set out a number of key tasks:

  • Strengthening leadership and direction: Party committees at all levels need to focus on leading, directing, and deeply grasping the Party’s resolutions.
  • Popularizing and publicizing policies: Widely publicizing new tax policies to businesses and people.
  • Improving the business environment: Continuing to reform administrative procedures, creating favorable conditions for businesses.
  • Increasing the effectiveness of tax fraud prevention: Protecting state budget revenue.
  • Building a cadre force: Training and fostering a cadre force with the qualifications and capacity to meet the requirements of the task.

Challenges and solutions

Besides the achievements, the tax sector also faces many challenges such as climate change, natural disasters, and international trade competition. To overcome these difficulties, the tax sector needs to:

  • Innovate working methods: Applying information technology to tax management, improving work efficiency.
  • Strengthen cooperation with relevant agencies and units: Creating consensus and close coordination in tax management.
  • Renew thinking, enhance the capacity of cadres: Training and fostering cadres to adapt to the new situation.
