Sharing experience in applying information technology in tax management between Vietnam and Korea

Hanoi, November 21 – In the context of promoting digital transformation, the General Department of Taxation of Vietnam had a working session with the delegation of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to discuss strengthening cooperation, especially in the field of applying information technology (IT) in tax management.
 

At the working session, General Director Mai Xuan Thanh shared the achievements that the Vietnamese tax sector has achieved in modernizing tax management. He emphasized that the agency’s business process system has been built relatively completely and is supported by IT. However, to meet the increasing demands of tax management in the digital age, the General Department of Taxation is aiming to build a centralized, integrated IT system to optimize business processes and enhance data processing capabilities.

Mr. Lee Byung Hwa, KOICA Vietnam Country Director, highly appreciated the efforts of the General Department of Taxation of Vietnam and affirmed KOICA’s readiness to support Vietnam in enhancing its tax management capacity through IT. He said that KOICA will create conditions for Korean experts to share experiences and support Vietnam in building and restructuring IT systems, reforming, modernizing and redesigning tax management operations.

Vietnam – Korea cooperation in the field of taxation: A long-standing cooperative relationship 

The cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Korea in the field of taxation has been established for a long time and has achieved many positive results. Through visits and working sessions, the two sides have shared experiences, knowledge and supported each other in improving tax management.

Benefits of applying IT in tax management

The application of IT in tax management brings many practical benefits, including:

  • Enhancing management efficiency: Automating processes, reducing errors, and increasing transparency.
  • Facilitating taxpayers: Reducing time and costs of fulfilling tax obligations, creating a favorable business environment.
