UPDATE ON REGIONAL MINIMUM WAGE EFFECTIVE FROM JANUARY 1, 2026

Pursuant to Decree No. 293/2025/ND-CP issued by the Government on November 10, 2025, the regional minimum wage will be adjusted effective January 1, 2026.
Specifically, the minimum wage in Region I will increase from VND 4,960,000 to VND 5,310,000 per month.

Accordingly, enterprises are required to promptly update and adjust the salary used as the basis for compulsory social insurance contributions for employees in compliance with the new regulations.

Notes:

🔹 Employers are responsible for reviewing all agreements in labor contracts, collective labor agreements, and internal labor regulations in order to amend and supplement them accordingly.
Employers must not abolish or reduce wage-related benefits, including but not limited to overtime pay, night-shift pay, in-kind allowances, and other benefits as prescribed by labor laws.

🔹 For provisions that have been agreed upon in labor contracts, collective labor agreements, or other lawful agreements that are more favorable to employees than those stipulated in this Decree—such as:

  • Wages for jobs or positions requiring vocational training being at least 7% higher than the minimum wage;
  • Wages for jobs or positions with heavy, hazardous, or dangerous working conditions being at least 5% higher;
  • Wages for jobs or positions with extremely heavy, hazardous, or dangerous working conditions being at least 7% higher than those of jobs with equivalent complexity under normal working conditions—
    such provisions shall continue to be implemented unless otherwise agreed by the parties.

 ✅ Conclusion:

To ensure full compliance with current legal regulations, enterprises are required to update the new regulations and adjust the salary used as the basis for compulsory social insurance contributions for employees starting January 2026.
